FAQ

IS THIS GOING TO TAKE LONG?: We want the session to be a relaxed and fun experience for you. Depending on the type of session your choose, we allow plenty of time to create unique photographs. A casual atmosphere is the key. We'll walk around a bit, play with angles and just have a good time. Make it up as we go. The best photographs are made when you're comfortable and relaxed.

WHERE DO WE SHOOT?: Most of the portraits that you have seen on our site were taken in and around clients' homes or favorite nearby spots. Finding great areas around Powder Springs, Vinings, Marietta, Acworth and Smryna for portraits is our specialty. Is there a special spot that describes you? Be sure to let me know.

WHAT SHALL I WEAR, DEAR?: Really, whatever you're comfortable wearing is cool. You know what garments and colors make you look good. My only suggestion is to stay away from large patterns or logos please (except certain senior sessions). For most portraits, earth tones of blue, green or brown are best. Black is great, too. And I'm not afraid of white, like other photographers. At any rate, pick a color that accentuates your eyes, hair and skin coloring. Matching your clothing to the environment that we will be shooting in is something to consider, too. Because we usually start in your home, clothing changes should be quick and easy.

GROOMING & MAKE-UP?: Please be sure to comb or brush your hair and apply any make-up prior to the shoot. It sounds trivial, but please check your look in the mirror before we arrive.

WHERE AND WHEN DO I SEE MY PICS?: You'll see them while were shooting. You and I will collaborate on what is working and what is not. The portrait session is always a work in progress. The best images, usually around 35-50, will be presented in the form of a web gallery about five to seven day's after your shoot. Most will be in color but a sampling may be in black & white and sepia. Put simply, most images look the very best in one of these three formats. We want you to be able to see each photograph in each format, for yourself. These galleries are available to view and order from, for 14 days. The web galleries will expire after 14 days. You may purchase a version in a slide shows format combined with a favorite song for your Facebook page or iPhone.

PRINT SIZES: Due to artistic considerations, some "standard" print sizes may not be suitable for some of the images taken. These photographs will be sized to the closest dimensions of the print size that you have chosen. I.E., A print from these images may not be suited for an exact 8"x10" print dimension. The image may need to be printed at 7"x10" to include the correct artistic composition. Some of these prints may need a "non-standard" frame size. These are available at any frame shop.

ORDERING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHS: You will find the individual photograph numbers on your screen in the selection slide shows. A minimum of 50% of your order total is due at the time that you place your order. The remaining balance is due when you pickup, or we ship, your order. We accept cash, check and credit cards (through PayPal).

HOW MUCH IS THIS GOING TO COST?: It won't cost an arm and leg, but I don't have the lowest prices on the block either. We have sessions starting at $195.00 for the "Drive-By" up to $1000.00 for the "Esquire" session.

YOU CHARGE MORE THAN OTHER PHOTOGRAPHERS. WHAT'S UP WITH THAT?: Thank you for noticing. Your session is more than just having me snap some pictures and selling you prints. Besides, you're here because you are looking for a style that's unique. If you wanted cookie cutter service and quality, you'd go to Sears or the guy down the street who'll charge you $50 bucks. My philosophy steams from that of renowned landscape photographer, Ansel Adams, who once stated that "the negative is the score and the print is the performance." The real magic happens when I process your images. Say what? While the original pictures straight of the camera will be nice, the image comes alive once I start applying artistic treatments to the image back in the studio.

WHY THE NAME SAMTINA?: In honor of my goddaughters, Samantha and Christina. I love them very much!

Best wishes, Stan
